A Half Century of Trusted Care

Dr. Spelman grew up in Hopewell Township and attended Hopewell Valley High School. He studied biological sciences at Rutgers University before receiving his dental training at the University of Maryland, where he graduated with high honors in 2001. Upon graduating, he returned home to Hopewell to practice alongside his father-in-law, Dr. John Orlando. Since beginning his practice, Dr. Spelman has committed himself to intensive learning about how the oral environment affects other body systems — and how those systems, in turn, affect the mouth. He has adopted a core philosophy: the body is designed to heal itself, and if we create the prime conditions for healing, we can live younger, longer. He is passionate about continually discovering better ways to care for our bodies, and he loves sharing that passion with others. His mantra: wellness is a pursuit, and each of us can (and should) make improvements every day that move us closer to optimal wellness. Outside the office, Dr. Spelman enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his wife Jamie, who serves as the practice's office manager, and their two children.
